Training funds for professional development activities are available for staff or volunteers of tax-exempt, nonprofit community organizations. Requests for training funds in amounts over $50 must be matched by the applicant. No more than $250 shall be allocated to any one organization per year.

Eligible applicants must:

• Have tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code
• Utilize volunteers or be in the process of developing a volunteer program

Funds may not be used for fund-raising events, conferences or events not related to the applicant's ongoing mission, or for costs already incurred. Funding is not available to organizations that do not have a non-discrimination policy.

Applications for Training Funds should include:

• Name of the organization, address, phone number and e-mail address of a contact person
• Description of organization's mission and community services
• Description of how the organization utilizes or plans to utilize volunteers
• Description of the training for which the applicant is seeking funding, including the name(s) and positions of those being trained and the expected benefits derived from the training
• A line-item budget for the organization, including a list of other funding sources
• Proof of 501(c)(3) status (copy of IRS letter)
