Endowment Fund History
Our Mission The Endowment Fund was established in 1994 as a separate fund for the benefit of the Junior League of Palo Alto•Mid Peninsula, Inc. with the purpose of providing a perpetual source of funds to support the League’s community programming.

Historical Timeline
| June 1992 – January 1994 | Researched, developed and approved the establishment of an Endowment Fund. | | January 1994 | Finalized first Endowment Fund Board of Directors. Endowment Fund is seeded with $80,000 from the League’s General Fund. | | July 1996 | Endow the Future Campaign launched with case statement and collateral materials with the goal to reach $300,000 in 2 1/2 years. | | Fall of 1996 | Established a designated fund with the Peninsula Community Foundation for management and investment. | | March 1997 | First distribution given to the League when the Fund reached $150,000. | | January 1998 | Endow the Future Campaign goal reached with several months to go. | | Summer 2000 | Established Legacy Leaders, an honorary society of members who plan a
future gift to the Endowment Fund in their estate plan. Seventeen
League members charter the Legacy Leaders. | | November 2000 | JLPA•MP transferred $355,000 of reserve funds into the
League-designated account to maximize growth of funds under management
and positively affect contributions to the General Fund, while
maintaining access to the funds. | | May 2001 | JLPA•MP Endowment Fund chosen by AJLI as the Outstanding Fund
Development Program of the year, at the Association’s Annual Conference
in Dallas. | | Spring 2004 | Fund balances returned to pre-September 11 levels and continued to grow as the market recovered. | | Fall 2005 | Funds of the Endowment transferred to TIFF for management and investment. | | Spring 2006 | Endowment Fund Board decided to launch a second campaign with the goal to grow the fund to $2.5 million by April of 2010. | | Spring 2007 | Campaign for the Future II launched. | | Spring 2008 | Pledges and donations to Campaign for the Future II totaled $836,262. | Spring 2009
| Campaign for the Future II reached 75% of $1.2 million goal.
