The goal of the Provisional course is to expose you to the many aspects of our League and to provide you with the knowledge and skills to be a productive, contributing member.
1. Attend the Provisional Retreat The Provisional Year starts with the Provisional Retreat, usually held on a Saturday in September.
2. Complete the Provisional Course The Provisional Course consists of the following:
Attend the Provisional Class Meeting Trainings
Provisional Class meetings are conducted monthly starting in October. They will be held at the Garden Court Hotel in Palo Alto with a social and dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. and a meeting from 7 – 9 p.m. The dates for 2010-2011 have not yet been set.
Attend Three of Five General Membership Meetings
The General Membership Meetings are informative and also provide a great opportunity to meet JLPA•MP Active members.The General Membership Meetings are held from 6:30 – 9 p.m. The dates are:

General Membership Meetings will be held at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Palo Alto.
Volunteer for One Done in A Day (DIAD) Project DIAD projects vary greatly, providing opportunities for every member to roll up her sleeves and give back to the community through a one-day (or less) hands-on community service event. Project dates are announced throughout the year.
Volunteer for One Three-hour Shift with the JLPA•MP Home Tour The Home Tour is our annual fundraising event. From December 3-5, 2010, Finishing Touches: A Holiday Tour of Fine Homes will showcase elegantly embellished homes on the Peninsula. The weekend includes an evening cocktail event, a marketplace of our favorite vendors, and the tour itself.
Volunteer for One Two-hour Shift with The Shop In 1970, The Shop opened its doors as a fundraiser for the JLPA•MP. The Shop, a resale store in downtown Menlo Park, raises vital funds through the sale of gently worn, high-quality merchandise that is donated by the public and members of the League. The Shop has raised almost $4 million to support community projects.
Participate in the Kids in the Kitchen Provisional Project Planning the Kids in the Kitchen (KITK) event will provide the Provisionals with the opportunity to work together as a team on a League project. You will be given time during Provisional Meetings to work on the project, but additional sub-committee meetings will likely be necessary. The 2010 event was held on a weekday in late April.
3. Fulfill JLPA•MP Financial Requirements The Provisional Course fees are due by August 31, 2010 with the completed registration form. The total is $243, which includes Provisional class dues ($168 – tax deductible) and course fee ($75).
