Fall 2014 Piper

Gold Is the New Black

Happy 50th, Junior Leaguers! Piper is kicking off our Golden Anniversary year with a look back at "Where We've Been as a League," and let me just say, it's amazing how much we've achieved in that time!

In this jam-packed Fall issue, you'll find:

  • Reflections from former community project partners on the League's lasting impact
  • A stroll down memory lane with four past JLPA-MP Presidents
  • Some fascinating "Shop" talk with the incomparable Robbie Mellows
  • An account of the history of Piper from two '70s-era insiders
  • An inspiring timeline charting some of our many milestones and accomplishments over the past five decades

Check out those features and much more HERE! (For those who have requested a print copy, it should arrive in 2-3 weeks.)

But before you dive in to the rest, you might want to skip straight to Page 6 for an important Save the Date from our Gala Committee. This is sure to be an event we'll all be talking about for the next 50 years!

    Book Swap

    THURSDAY, OCT 30, 6:30 – 8:30 PM

    AT THE GATEHOUSE

National Family Literacy Day is Nov. 1 – are you ready? No? Don’t fret because help is on the way. The JLPA●MP is hosting a book swap. This fun gathering is open to Active, Sustainer, New Members AND prospective members. Maybe you know someone who is up to her eyebrows in Halloween costume design and party organization. Could she use a new book on her bedside table and meet new ladies, all while enjoying cheese, chocolate and wine? How does it work? It’s simple! Bring in a book that’s in good condition that you enjoyed. This could include cookbooks, beach reads, children’s bedtime stories, gardening how-to’s, travel books, best sellers, poetry - all are welcome. Our goal is that you will bring a book that will find a home with someone else and you will take home a cherished publication that someone else has shared! Any books without a home at the end of the night will be taken to The Shop. Every member that brings a prospective member along to the event will be entered into a drawing for a prize. Please RSVP by Oct. 28
